PCSC 2018

The Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP) invites you to participate and submit papers to the 18th Philippine Computing Science Congress (PCSC2018). The CSP organizes this conference to enable computing educators, researchers, ICT professionals, and students to interact and to share their work in computing, computer science, computer engineering, computational science, and information and communications technology (ICT). The conference features contributed research papers and special lectures by prominent researchers and educators in the field of computing, ICT, and related fields.
PCSC2018 is organized by the Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP) and locally organized by the Capitol University, Cagayan De Oro City, Philippines.

Young Researchers’ Forum

PCSC2018 features a Young Researchers’ Forum (YRF) that will take place within the conference. The goal of this forum is to assist MS and PhD students by providing a venue for them to discuss their thesis topics, as well as present any initial results, for which they would like to seek advise from mentors that CSP will assign to them. We look forward to exciting and productive discussions that will result from the Forum, which will also serve to stimulate discussions and generate new ideas, as well as encourage  networking among students and researchers in Computing Science in the country.

The YRF will be reserved to bona fide graduate students. Interested participants are invited to submit an extended summary of their thesis proposal,  including a working title, an abstract of a maximum of 500 words,  the current general and specific research objectives, and a 3-page background of the study, including some partial results if available.  The extended summary must be emailed to, with the subject : “PCSC2018-YRF name of student”. Deadline is the same for regular paper submissions.

The PCSC2018 Proceedings will be electronically published with ISSN number. The online version will be available from the official CSP website ( after the conference.

The extended abstracts submitted to YRF will not be included in the proceedings.

Conference Topics (but are not limited to)

14th National Natural Language Processing Research Symposium Pre-Conference Activity:

Student Research Workshop

February 02-03, 2018, Bicol University, Legazpi

Organized by the Computing Society of the Philippines – Special Interest Group on Natural Language Processing (CSP SIG-NLP), National University (NU), and Bicol University.

The 14th National Natural Language Processing Research Symposium Pre-Conference Activity: Student Research Workshop (14NNLPRS: SRW) is a regular gathering of researchers from different fields working on the analysis, processing, and generation of human languages. The main conference 14NNLPRS will be held in Baguio in May 2018 and will be hosted by the University of the Cordilleras. SRW as a pre-conference activity is intended to provide students – both undergraduate and graduate – a forum to present their work on NLP and receive feedback.

14NNLPRS: SRW will be a venue for discussing the various challenges and opportunities students face in integrating human language technologies to analyze various types of data. Papers on preliminary works describing the challenges and opportunities faced by the authors are also invited. Select papers will be invited to a special issue of the Philippine Computing Journal.
